Think about a standard grooming trip from the dog’s side: a car ride (many dogs’ single biggest stressor), a lobby full of strange dogs and smells, hours in a kennel waiting their turn, a loud cage dryer, more kennel time, and then the car again. A confident young dog shrugs it off. How We Handle Nervous Dogs

• Same groomer, every visit — anxious dogs relax when the person, the van, and the routine are familiar. By the second or third visit, most nervous dogs walk up the ramp on their own.
• The appointment moves at the dog’s pace — breaks when they’re needed, and no rushing a dog who needs a minute.
• You’re thirty feet away — some dogs do better knowing you’re near; some do better with you inside. We’ll figure out which yours is, together.
• Honest limits — grooming should never be a wrestling match. If a dog needs a slower multi-visit ramp-up, or in rare cases a vet-supervised groom instead, we’ll tell you straight.

Senior dogs have their own needs: arthritic hips that can’t stand for long stretches, thinner skin, lumps and bumps to work around, and less tolerance for heat and noise. A mobile groom is shorter, quieter, and physically easier — supported standing, breaks built in, warm (never hot) drying, and a groomer who checks in with you about anything found in the coat. For many families on the Coast, mobile is what makes grooming possible again for a dog in their last years — and those visits matter.
